Hands On Tech Ltd (“Hands On Tech”, “we”, “us”) runs practical-skills workshops and mentoring for young people in Singapore. This policy explains what personal data we collect through www.handsontech.org.sg, why we collect it, and how you can contact us about it.
1. Who we are
Hands On Tech Ltd, UEN 202532528Z
Correspondence address: Blk 120 Potong Pasir Avenue 1, #01-822, Singapore 350120
Email: info@handsontech.org.sg

2. What we collect, and why
We only collect what you choose to send us. When you complete a form on this website, it prepares an email in your own email app, addressed to info@handsontech.org.sg. Nothing is sent until you send that email yourself.
| Form | What we collect | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Workshop announcements | Your email address and, optionally, the skills you are interested in. Your email asking to subscribe is our record of your consent. | To email you when a new workshop opens for registration |
| Volunteer enquiry | Name and email (required); optionally your phone number, age group, the ways you would like to help, technical skills, relevant experience, availability and a short message | To reply to you, and to arrange volunteering. Mentoring roles include further screening during onboarding. |
| Mentoring enquiry | Who is enquiring (parent or guardian, young person, or referring organisation), name and email (required); optionally your phone number and organisation; a short description of the young person and what they would like to learn | To assess the request and reply to you. Mentoring depends on programme capacity and the availability of screened mentors. |
| Partner enquiry | Name, organisation, type of organisation and email (required); optionally a message | To discuss running a workshop with your group |
| General question | Name, email and your question | To answer your question |
We do not request NRIC numbers. Please do not include NRIC numbers or unnecessary sensitive personal information in free-text fields.
Before workshop registration opens, we will explain what participant and parent or guardian information is required and how it will be used.
3. Young people
Young people aged 16 and above may send enquiries themselves. For those under 16, a parent or guardian should send mentoring enquiries and workshop registrations on their behalf.
If we receive personal data from someone under 16 without the appropriate parental involvement, we will take reasonable steps to obtain parent or guardian consent, or delete the information where it is no longer needed.
Workshop age limits and accompaniment requirements are set out in our Terms of use and stated again at registration.
4. Workshop announcements and your consent
You will only join our workshop-announcement mailing list if you expressly opt in. Subscribers to our previous newsletter are not automatically added to this list.
Every workshop-announcement email includes a way to unsubscribe. You may also unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@handsontech.org.sg. We keep appropriate records of consent and unsubscribe requests.
The mailing-list option on our enquiry forms is optional. You do not need to subscribe to send an enquiry, volunteer or take part in our programmes.
We will not use your phone number for marketing calls or messages.
5. Photos at workshops
We request consent before each event to take photographs for internal documentation and programme review. For participants under 18, we request consent from a parent or guardian.
This consent does not authorise publication on our website, social media or promotional materials. Any public use requires separate consent for that purpose.
To withdraw consent or ask us to remove a photograph, contact info@handsontech.org.sg. We will explain what action we can take and any limitations.
6. Who we share your data with
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only as necessary:
- with authorised Hands On Tech team members who handle enquiries and run our programmes;
- with service providers that support our website, email and mailing list, subject to appropriate data-protection arrangements;
- where disclosure is required or authorised by law.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected for, or for applicable legal or business requirements. Our retention periods are:
- Enquiries: 1 year after our last contact with you.
- Workshop-announcement subscriptions: while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we stop sending announcements and keep only the records needed to document your preference and prevent further unwanted emails.
- Consent and unsubscribe records: 2 years.
- Workshop, volunteer and mentoring records: 5 years, for audit purposes.
- Donation and financial records: 7 years, for financial audit purposes.
We delete or anonymise personal data when we no longer need to keep it.
8. How we protect it
We take reasonable security measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, use, disclosure, alteration or loss. Access is restricted to authorised people who need the information for their duties. We use services with appropriate security safeguards, and our website uses a secure HTTPS connection.
9. Your choices
You may contact us to:
- request access to the personal data we hold about you, and information about how it has been used or disclosed during the past year;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- withdraw consent for the collection, use or disclosure of your personal data, including unsubscribing from workshop announcements.
These requests are subject to applicable legal requirements and exceptions. Please write to our Data Protection Officer at info@handsontech.org.sg. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
We will respond as soon as reasonably possible. If we cannot complete an access request within 30 days, we will tell you within that period when you can expect a response.
If withdrawing consent affects our ability to provide a service or programme, we will explain the consequences. Withdrawing consent does not necessarily mean we delete records that we must keep for legal or legitimate business purposes.
10. Cookies and analytics
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Donations
You can donate by PayNow to our UEN. PayNow donations are processed through your own bank. We receive the transaction information our bank provides, which may include your name, the donation amount and the payment reference. We never receive your bank login details.
We use donation information to process, record and reconcile donations, send acknowledgements, respond to payment enquiries and meet accounting or legal requirements. Donating does not subscribe you to any emails.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our activities or how we handle data. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Where necessary, we will notify you of changes and ask for your consent to new uses of your personal data.
